Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement and operate security controls across the enterprise data estate, including platforms like Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, and SQL Server. This hands-on role focuses on encryption, access controls, data masking, and secure data pipelines.

You will collaborate with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, and IT teams, report to the Deputy CISO, and work 100% remotely from SNHU-approved states.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, or related field, including data protection.
• Experience with cloud data platforms and relational databases (Azure SQL/SQL Server).

Responsibilities

• Implement data security controls across the enterprise data estate, including classification, labeling, masking, and de-identification.
• Operate encryption controls for data at rest and in transit, manage keys and vaulting.
• Implement least-privilege access models and conduct entitlement reviews to remediate access.
• Harden security configurations for Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, SQL Server, data lakes and storage services.
• Automate control deployment and compliance validation via scripting and IaC.
