Job summary

Salute is seeking a Remote Hands Technician to deliver on-site data center support for hardware installs, rack and stack, cabling, troubleshooting, and asset management. You will ensure timely service requests, document accurately, and maintain safety procedures while collaborating with remote operations teams.

The role requires at least 2 years in telecom/IT data center environments, ability to use ticketing systems, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or vocational training preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in Telecommunications or IT related field, supporting data center, mission-critical, or colocation environments.
• Working knowledge of data center operations, hardware installation, asset management, and infrastructure support.
• Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting server, storage, and networking equipment from multiple vendors.
• Understanding of structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber optic installations, patching, testing, and cable management best practices.
• Experience using ticketing systems, asset management platforms, and operational documentation tools.
• Ability to interpret and execute operational procedures, maintenance tasks, and project plans.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond effectively during high-priority incidents.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Perform Remote Hands services tracked through client ticketing system.
• Equipment Rack and Stack; Cable, terminate and dress fiber/copper cabling.
• Assist customers with diagnosis of hardware/software issues.
• Power cycle customer equipment.
• Conduct cabinet/cage audits; Install/remove blade/card/memory/storage.
• Test and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic circuits.
• Assist with migrations of equipment, power, or networking devices.
• Shipping/receiving of packages.
• Receive/install/test cross connects of copper/fiber interconnections.
• Use power and hand tools; document updates in ticketing system.
• Maintain documentation and inventory counts.
• Adhere to SOPs; keep data center clean and organized.
• Report to facility within 1-hour average for emergencies.
