Job summary

Ericsson Inc. is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead and ensure reliable installation, maintenance, and operation of optical transport in customer data centers. You will interface with customers and vendors, drive quality, and supervise field teams across migrations and break/fix tasks.

The role requires hands-on fiber expertise, optical testing, and the ability to travel up to 50% of the time to non-home market sites, while maintaining safety and high standards.

Qualifications

• 3–15 years of experience in data center operations or similar technical environments with direct customer interaction.
• Strong hands-on experience with connectorized fiber optic cabling (single‑mode and multi‑mode, LC, fan-outs, structured cabling).
• Excellent written and verbal English for customer-facing communications.
• Strong organizational, administrative, and documentation skills using customer applications and/or Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily audits of work performed at customer data centers and provide feedback to technicians.
• Interfacing with customers via ticketing tools or in person, delivering clear reports and updates.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migration activities across data center optical and transport environments.
• Conduct and/or supervise optical testing and troubleshooting using optical power meters, stabilized light sources, VFLs, OTDRs, and test sets.
• Deliver services by interpreting and executing MoPs, engineering documents, vendor documentation, and network diagrams.
• Read and interpret cut sheets and network designs to ensure proper port connections and cable management.
