Job summary

Ericsson Inc. is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead installation, maintenance and operation of optical transport in customer data centers and co-locations. You will act as the interface between customers and Ericsson’s vendors, auditing quality and driving high-standards across installations, migrations, and remote hands services.

Expect to travel to non-home market sites up to 50% of the time. The role requires hands-on fiber cabling expertise, optical testing and troubleshooting,

Qualifications

• Field- or data center operations experience with customer interaction.
• Hands-on fiber optics and network build knowledge.
• Experience with optical testing and troubleshooting in data-center environments.
• Strong communication skills for customer-facing work.

Responsibilities

• Audit daily work at customer data centers and provide feedback to technicians.
• Communicate with customers via ticketing tools and in person with clear reports.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migrations.
• Conduct optical testing using meters and sources and interpret results.
• Deliver services by following MoPs, engineering docs and network diagrams.
• Read cut sheets and diagrams to ensure correct port connections and cable management.
