Job summary

Ericsson Inc. seeks a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead installations and operations of optical transport within customer data centers and co-locations.

You will audit work, maintain high quality standards, and serve as the customer-facing liaison with Ericsson’s vendors. The role requires hands-on fiber experience (single/multi‑mode, LC, fan‑outs), optical testing expertise, and the ability to travel to non-home markets for extended periods up to half the time.

Qualifications

• 3–15 years of experience in data center operations or similar technical environment with direct customer interaction.
• Team lead experience and ability to communicate effectively with customers.
• Strong written and spoken English for customer-facing communications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily audits of work at customer data centers and provide feedback to technicians.
• Interact with customers via ticketing tools or in person, delivering clear reports and updates.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migration activities across optical and transport environments.
• Conduct and/or supervise optical testing and troubleshooting using tools like power meters, stabilized light sources, OTDRs and test sets.
• Deliver services by following Methods of Procedure, engineering documents, vendor docs, and network diagrams.
• Read cut sheets and network designs to ensure correct port connections and cable management.
