Job summary

Ericsson Inc. is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead optical transport and infrastructure work in customer data centers and co-locations. You will ensure reliable installation, maintenance, and operation while interfacing with customers and vendors.

The role requires hands-on fiber, testing, and the ability to travel to non-home market sites up to 50% and work there for several weeks. You will audit, report, and enforce safety, quality, and best practices in fast paced environments.

Qualifications

• 3–15 years in data center ops with customer interaction.
• Strong hands-on fiber optic cabling experience (single/multi-mode).
• Experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
• Team lead and customer-facing communication skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Audit daily work in customer data centers and provide feedback.
• Interface with customers via ticketing tools or in person with clear reports.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, migrations.
• Conduct optical testing using meters and OTDRs.
• Deliver services following MoPs, docs, vendor data, and diagrams.
• Read cut sheets and network design documents for ports and cabling.
