Job summary

Ericsson Inc. is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead installation, maintenance and operation of optical transport in customer data centers. You will interface with customers and vendors, audit service quality, and ensure high-availability operations across installations and migrations.

The role requires hands-on optical cabling experience and the ability to travel to non-home market sites up to 50% of the time. Strong English communication and safety-focused workmanship are essential.

Qualifications

• 3-15 years of experience in data center operations or similar technical environment with direct customer interaction.
• Strong hands-on experience with connectorized fiber optic cabling (single-mode & multi-mode, LC, fan-outs, structured cabling).
• Demonstrated experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret cut sheets and physical network design documents.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily audits of work at customer data centers and co-locations; provide feedback to 3PP technicians.
• Interact with customers via ticketing tools or in person; provide clear reports and updates.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migration activities.
• Conduct and/or supervise optical testing and troubleshooting using tools like OTDRs and test sets.
• Deliver services by interpreting MoPs, engineering docs, vendor docs, and network diagrams.
• Read cut sheets and network design docs to ensure proper port connections and cable management.
