Job summary

Ericsson Inc. seeks a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead field work in customer data centers and co-locations. You will ensure reliable installation, maintenance, and operation of optical transport and infrastructure while interfacing with customers and vendors.

The role requires hands-on fiber cabling, optical testing, and the ability to travel to non-home market sites up to 50% of the time. Strong documentation and safety practices are essential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily audits of work performed at customer data centers and provide feedback to technicians.
• Interact with customers via ticketing tools or in person, delivering clear reports and updates.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migration activities across data center optical and transport environments.
• Conduct and/or supervise optical testing and troubleshooting using meters, light sources, VFLs, OTDRs, and test sets.
• Deliver services by following Methods of Procedure, engineering docs, vendor docs, and network diagrams.
• Read and interpret cut sheets and design docs to ensure correct port connections and cable management.
