Job summary

Ericsson is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead optical transport operations in customer data centers and co-locations. You will ensure reliable installation and maintenance, act as the customer-vendor interface, and guide a team through installations, migrations, and remote hands tasks.

The role requires hands-on optical cabling and testing expertise, strong English communication, and flexibility to travel up to 50% to non-home market sites.

Qualifications

• 3–15 years in data center operations or similar environments with customer interaction.
• Hands-on experience with fiber optic cabling (single/multi-mode, LC, fan-outs).
• Experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily audits of Ericsson work at customer data centers and provide feedback.
• Interface with customers via ticketing tools and face-to-face communications.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, and remediation activities.
• Conduct and supervise optical testing using meters, light sources, OTDRs, and test sets.
• Deliver services by following MoPs, engineering documents, and diagrams.
• Read cut sheets and network designs to ensure correct port connections and cabling.
