Job summary

Ericsson Inc. is hiring a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead installations and operations in customer data centers and co-locations in the United States. You will monitor quality, coordinate with vendors, and travel up to 50% to support sites and migrations.

Ideal candidates have extensive fiber experience, optical testing skills, and a track record of safe, structured cabling practices in high-availability environments. Excellent English communication is essential for customer interactions.

Qualifications

• 3–15 years of experience in data center operations or similar technical environment with direct customer interaction.
• Strong hands-on experience with connectorized fiber optic cabling, including single-mode and multi-mode fiber, LC, fan-outs, and structured cabling.
• Demonstrated experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
• Commitment to safety standards, quality requirements, and operational best practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily audits of work performed at customer data centers and co-locations and provide feedback to technicians.
• Interact with customers via ticketing tools or in person, delivering clear reports and updates.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migration activities.
• Conduct and/or supervise optical testing and troubleshooting using meters, sources, VFLs, OTDRs, and test sets.
• Deliver services by interpreting and executing MoPs, engineering documents, vendor docs, and network diagrams.
• Read and interpret cut sheets and network design documents to ensure accurate port connections and cable management.
