Job summary

Ericsson Inc. is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead and execute optical transport and infrastructure work in customer data centers and co-locations.

You will ensure reliable installation and operation, interact with customers and vendors, and uphold quality standards across installations and migrations. The role requires hands-on fiber optic cabling experience, optical testing skills, and the ability to travel to non-home market sites up to 50% of the time.

Qualifications

  • Team lead experience is required.
  • Strong English communication for customer interactions.
  • Experience in data center operations (3–15 years).
  • Hands-on experience with fiber optic cabling (single/multi-mode, LC, fan-outs).
  • Experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
  • Ability to multitask and stay composed in high-availability environments.

Responsibilities

  • Audit daily work at customer data centers and provide feedback to technicians.
  • Interact with customers via ticketing tools or in person and deliver clear reports.
  • Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migrations.
  • Conduct optical testing and troubleshooting using meters, sources, VFLs, OTDRs and test sets.
  • Deliver services by following MoPs, engineering documents and network diagrams.
  • Read cut sheets and network design docs to ensure proper connections.
