Job summary

Ericsson Inc. in Ohio is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead installation, maintenance, and operation of optical transport in customer data centers.

You will act as the liaison between customers and Ericsson’s vendors, ensuring high-quality execution across installations, migrations, remediation, and remote hands services. The role requires hands-on fiber cabling experience, optical testing, and the ability to travel up to 50% to non-home market sites.

Qualifications

  • 3–15 years of data center operations experience with direct customer interaction.
  • Hands-on experience with fiber optic cabling (single-mode and multi-mode), LC connectors.
  • Experience performing optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
  • Strong written and spoken English; ability to communicate with customers.
  • Ability to travel to non-home market sites up to 50% of the time.
  • Commitment to safety standards and quality practices.

Responsibilities

  • Audit daily work at customer data centers and provide feedback to technicians.
  • Interface with customers via ticketing tools and in person; provide clear reports.
  • Assist with fiber install, decommissioning, break/fix, migrations.
  • Read MoPs, engineering docs, vendor docs, and network diagrams to execute tasks.
  • Oversee port connections and cable management from cut sheets.
