Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. is seeking an Application Engineer for Data Centers. This remote-first role supports hybrid work in Michigan, engaging with hyperscalers, EPCs, OEMs, and data-center equipment suppliers to design, qualify, and deploy SEF fastener solutions.

You will guide technical discussions, develop evidence for specifications, and drive joint development from design review through field rollout, balancing speed with reliability and total cost of ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
• 5+ years in application/field engineering or technical sales in fastening or engineered components.
• Experience selling or specifying data center projects.
• Knowledge of mechanical joint design, torque/tension, corrosion, and vibration.
• Reading drawings; 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
• Strong communication skills; credible with customers and field teams.
• Multi-project program management capability; travel as needed.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Design-in and specification engagement with OEMs and EPCs.
• Lead joint development, trials, and validation with customers.
• Serve as internal authority on data center codes and standards.
• Capture voice-of-customer to Sales and Product teams.
• Deliver samples, demos, and live application demonstrations.
• Own technical escalations on active projects.
• Collaborate across SEF, Sales, Product, and Quality teams.
• Maintain data center playbook for AE team.
