Job summary

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) Sacramento is seeking a UHP Caseworker to provide trauma-informed services to refugees and qualified immigrants, supporting self-sufficiency through comprehensive case management. You will collaborate with clients, families, and partners to design and implement service plans across financial, medical, social, vocational, and educational needs.

Qualifications

• Associate or BA degree with emphasis in Social Work, Migration Studies, Public Health, Refugee Studies, Development, Immigration Law, or related field; or 1+ years of related experience.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in human services preferred.
• Experience with refugee and/or immigrant populations preferred.
• Fluent in English; Dari/Pashto spoken by IRC’s clients.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry.
• Strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and multi-task effectively.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate pre- and post-arrival services to ensure housing, food, medical care, and transportation.
• Provide client-centered case management including access to benefits, housing, mental health, and schooling.
• Conduct intake assessments and develop self-sufficiency plans.
• Provide support through direct services, referrals, and advocacy.
• Monitor progress and adjust plans to meet goals; document interactions per requirements.
• Enter data into databases and assist with tracking and reporting.
• Collaborate with coworkers and partner organizations; train volunteers if needed.
• Travel within the service area using personal insured vehicle or public transport.
