Job summary

International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Sacramento seeks a Caseworker (Dari speaking) to provide trauma-informed services for refugees and immigrants, supporting resettlement and self-sufficiency. You’ll coordinate housing, benefits, healthcare, and schooling while maintaining detailed case notes and collaborating with partners.

The role requires a BA/Associate in relevant fields or 1+ year of experience, fluency in English, Dari/Pashto, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Associate or BA degree in Social Work, Migration Studies, Public Health, Refugee Studies, Development, Immigration Law, or an equivalent field; or 1+ years of related professional experience.
• Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.
• Strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills.
• Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate timely pre- and post-arrival services to ensure housing, food, medical care, and transportation for living essentials.
• Provide client-centered case management including accessing public benefits, housing, mental health services, medical care, school/ESL enrollment, referrals, and scheduling.
• Conduct intake with clients; develop self-sufficiency plans and timelines with each client.
• Assess and monitor client progress; ensure resources are utilized and documented.
• Input client data into databases and assist with tracking and reporting.
• Collaborate with coworkers and partner organizations; build relationships with service providers.
• Travel within the Sacramento service delivery area using a personal vehicle or public transport.
• May train and lead volunteers or interns; work across programs.
• Occasional weekend or evening work; office-based in Sacramento.
