CONTACT Care Line is East Tennessee’s first crisis hotline. Our 988 Crisis Program provides text and phone support. Crisis Counselors assess suicide risk, offer compassionate support, document thoroughly, and collaborate with visitors to create safety plans.

This is a fully remote, full-time role with 40 hours per week; weekend shifts are required. Our team values mutual support and professional growth. You will engage in follow-ups, adhere to policies, complete training, and document accurately

Competenze

• Must be 18+ years old.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field with 120 college credits, or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in mental health, crisis intervention, or related field.
• Strong empathic listening and reflective communication skills.
• Ability to stay calm and apply reasoning in high-stress situations.
• Identifying and responding to imminent risk with appropriate urgency.
• Proficient with web-based applications, navigating websites, and basic troubleshooting.
• Growth mindset and willingness to receive feedback promptly.
• Commitment to non-judgmental, compassionate support for all visitors.
• Open, timely two-way communication with teammates.

Mansioni

• Respond to 988 chat, text, and telephone interactions promptly and compassionately.
• Manage two concurrent chat interactions during chat-focused shifts per policy.
• Assess and mitigate suicide risk using established protocols and safety plans.
• Deliver emotional support using active listening and de-escalation skills.
• Provide referrals to community resources as needed.
• Follow clinical and operational protocols across shifts; initiate phone contact if disconnected in high-risk cases.
• Initiate follow-up outreach based on visitor needs and clinical guidelines.
• Participate in and complete training for chat and phone services; maintain readiness to support across mediums.
