Job summary

HIMSS, a leading global health IT nonprofit, is seeking an accomplished accounting leader to oversee the Accounting Department, ensure a complete, accurate, and timely close, and enforce policies, controls, and GAAP across HIMSS and its international entities.

The role partners with executive leadership to deliver high-quality financial reporting, manage external audits, and guide teams through process improvements, system enhancements (NetSuite), and cash management in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; MS or MBA preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• 10+ years of full-time accounting experience, including managing remote teams and international operations.
• Strong ethics and professional standards.
• Proven ability to mentor accounting professionals.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Accounting Department for monthly, quarterly, and annual closes and reports.
• Develop and enforce financial policies to safeguard assets.
• Oversee accounts receivable, cash applications, and merchant accounting under supervision.
• Oversee accounts payable, payroll, and tax compliance with supervision.
• Coordinate accounting for international offices and currency/foreign tax considerations.
• Lead system enhancements and work with NetSuite, Concur, ADP and consultants.
• Direct audit prep work, reconciliations, and management of external auditors.
• Advise CFO/CEO on GAAP and financial reporting.
• Improve accounting records, schedules, and disclosures; mentor staff.
