Job summary

HIMSS is seeking an experienced accounting leader to guide the organization’s accounting operations and close processes. The role ensures policy compliance, internal controls, and accurate financial reporting for HIMSS and its entities.

You will oversee external audits, tax filings, and international accounts, while partnering with executives to advise on GAAP applications and financial strategy. A strong background in policy development and system improvements is essential.

Qualifications

• Ten (10)+ years of accounting experience in industry or public accounting, including remote teams and international operations.
• CPA preferred.
• Experience directing accounting policies and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Accounting Department for monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial statements.
• Develop and enforce accounting policies to safeguard assets.
• Oversee accounts receivable, including billing, cash receipts, and merchant accounting.
• Oversee accounts payable, PO processing, petty cash, expense reports, payroll, and payroll tax compliance.
• Ensure GAAP compliance for currency translation and foreign tax liabilities in international offices.
• Maintain systems and controls to ensure data integrity of financial systems.
• Lead system enhancements with third-party providers and consultants.
• Plan and direct audit work papers and reconciliations with timely delivery.
• Provide leadership to CFO and executive management on accounting policy and financial reporting.
