Job summary

HIMSS is seeking an experienced accounting leader to direct the organization’s accounting operations, ensure a complete and timely close, and uphold internal controls across global operations. You will work with external auditors and manage annual audits and tax filings while guiding policy and financial reporting.

We value skilled leadership, mentoring, and strong GAAP knowledge to improve transparency, asset protection, and financial systems integrations across NetSuite, Concur, and ADP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; MS or MBA preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• A minimum of ten (10) years (full-time) experience in industry or public accounting, including experience managing remote teams and with international operations.
• Exceptional accounting and analytical skills; deadline-focused; professional standard of ethics.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop accounting professionals.

Responsibilities

• Direct the activities of the Accounting Department related to planning, execution, and accurate and timely completion of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Develop and enforce the financial policies required to safeguard the assets of the organization.
• Manage accounts receivable aging components, including billings, cash receipts application, and merchant accounting.
• Oversee the processing of disbursements: accounts payable, PO, petty cash, payroll processing, and payroll tax compliance.
• Oversee accounting for HIMSS international offices ensuring GAAP currency translation and foreign tax liability.
• Establish and maintain the systems and controls that verify the integrity of financial data.
• Lead financial system enhancements and implementations with NetSuite, Concur, ADP; coordinate with vendors.
• Plan and direct audit work papers and reconciliations monthly, quarterly, and annually.
• Provide leadership to the CFO/CEO on accounting policies and GAAP.
• Improve the quality and transparency of accounting records and disclosures.
• Direct fixed asset reporting and the fixed asset inventory process.
• Mentor, coach, and develop employees with performance feedback.
• Perform other related duties to support department objectives.
