Job summary

Post University is seeking an in-house Compliance & Contracts Attorney to serve as a legal advisor to university stakeholders, focusing on contracts, regulatory compliance, privacy, and IP matters. This fully remote role with limited travel (<5%) partners with the legal and compliance teams to support in-person and online education programs.

The attorney will draft and negotiate diverse agreements, review communications for regulatory compliance, and provide ongoing guidance on FERPA, GDPR, and related matters, while collaborating across the University.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited US law school.
• Admitted to the bar in at least one state; Connecticut house counsel status required.
• At least two years of experience practicing as a lawyer.
• Experience in higher education is welcome but not required.
• Strong legal analysis and critical thinking skills.
• Interest in contract review and key contractual provisions (copyright, data privacy, IT security, indemnification, etc.).
• Eager to learn and stay updated on regulations related to University operations.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, revise, and negotiate vendor and technology agreements, strategic partnerships, data privacy and IP matters.
• Review outgoing student communications for regulatory compliance.
• Provide legal advice on ethical operations and compliance.
• Assist with international compliance for international students.
• Assist with IP matters as requested.
• Support privacy, GLBA, GDPR, NCAA, FERPA, TCPA, Title VI, and marketing compliance for University operations.
• Perform legal research and develop educational resources on regulatory issues.
• Assist with student concerns and employment matters as needed.
• Collaborate with university associates and perform other duties as assigned.
