Job summary

Post University is seeking a Compliance & Contracts Attorney to serve as a key legal advisor to the university's governance and regulatory teams. The role focuses on contracts, privacy, and compliance while collaborating with university leadership to ensure lawful and policy-aligned operations for in-person and online programs.

Fully remote with very limited travel (<5%), the attorney will draft and negotiate vendor/technology agreements, advise on FERPA, GDPR, Title IX, data protection, and related issues, and support IP and international matters as needed. Prior higher education exposure is welcome but not required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited US law school.
• Must be admitted and in good standing in at least one state bar; attaining approved house counsel status in Connecticut is required.
• At least two years of experience practicing as a lawyer.
• Interest in developing expertise in contract review and key contractual provisions (such as copyright ownership, data privacy and protection, IT security, indemnification, insurance, etc.).
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Drafts, reviews, revises, and negotiates a variety of agreements including vendor and technology agreements, strategic partnerships and alliances, and agreements involving data privacy and security, international matters, and intellectual property
• Reviews outgoing group student communications to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and best practices
• Provides legal advice relating to ethical operations and compliance
• Assists with international compliance for our growing international student population
• Assists with intellectual property matters as requested
• Supports the legal and compliance groups with other matters as requested involving privacy, GLBA, GDPR, NCAA, FERPA, TCPA, Title VI, and marketing
• Performs legal research, drafts and develops resource material, and performs educational outreach within the institution on legal and regulatory issues
• May be asked to assist with problem-solving efforts related to student concerns and employment matters after gaining sufficient familiarity with University practices
• Works in collaboration with associates throughout the University
• Other duties as assigned
