Job summary

Post University is seeking a Compliance & Contracts Attorney to serve as a legal advisor to university stakeholders, including the legal & regulatory team, faculty, and staff. The role emphasizes collaboration and drafting, reviewing, revising, and negotiating contracts and policies for in-person and online education programs, ensuring compliance with law and University policy.

The position is fully remote with <5% travel, requiring JD, bar admission, and at least two years of practice. Experience in higher education is welcome, with opportunities to work on privacy, data security, IP, and regulatory matters.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited US law school.
• Must be admitted and in good standing in at least one state bar; house counsel status in Connecticut required.
• At least two years of experience practicing as a lawyer.
• Experience in higher education is welcome but not required.
• Strong critical thinking and excellent legal analysis skills.
• Interest in developing expertise in contract review and key contractual provisions.

Responsibilities

• Drafts, reviews, revises, and negotiates a variety of agreements including vendor and technology agreements, strategic partnerships, and data privacy and security matters.
• Reviews outgoing group student communications for regulatory compliance.
• Provides legal advice relating to ethical operations and compliance.
• Assists with international compliance for the international student population.
• Assists with intellectual property matters as requested.
• Supports legal and compliance in privacy, GLBA, GDPR, NCAA, FERPA, TCPA, Title VI, and marketing as learned.
• Performs legal research and develops educational materials on legal issues within the institution.
• May assist with student and employment-related problem-solving after gaining familiarity with University practices.
• Collaborates with associates across the University.
