Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking an Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriter Director - Construction Property Underwriter to join our Specialties Construction team. This remote role is based in the San Antonio or Austin area and may be filled at either level based on experience.

You will handle complex construction property accounts, mentor others, and build broker relationships to drive retention and growth while applying underwriting rules and regulations.

Qualifications

• Requires 5+ years in underwriting or market facing area or 10+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Experience with underwriting rules, guidelines, and insurance laws.
• Experience working with brokers, agents, and distributors to identify needs and provide solutions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules.
• Develop and collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business needs.
• May provide guidance to lower level associates.
• Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) in support of business retention and acquisition.
• Supports the sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers and customers.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities
• Qualify accounts to meet appetite and business opportunity.
• Make broker/customer and on-site calls with a planned purpose
