Job summary

Zurich North America seeks an Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriter Director - Construction Property Underwriter to join its Specialties Construction team. This remote role is based in the San Antonio or Austin area and will be filled at Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriter Director depending on experience.

As a SME, you will handle complex domestic Construction Property accounts, guide associates, and collaborate with brokers to drive retention and growth.

Qualifications

• Preferred qualifications include deep knowledge of Construction Property Underwriting and related markets.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey complex information clearly.
• Experience working with brokers and agents to sustain and grow book of business.
• Ability to mentor and guide lower level associates when needed.

Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor underwriting rules, guidelines, and rating annual rules.
• Develop and collaborate with lines of business on referrals and business needs.
• Provide guidance to lower level associates where appropriate.
• Build and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support retention and growth.
• Support the sales culture by being a help point for agents, brokers, and customers.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete opportunity assessments with distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to fit appetite and opportunity.
