Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Coding Auditor and Educator for Professional Fee coding. The role involves auditing, education, and training across the organization, using ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, and regulatory guidelines.

You will ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely implementation within PB coding teams. You will lead onboarding for new hires, develop ongoing educational programs, and stay current with evolving health plan requirements and regulatory changes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D.
• Two (2) years of recent experience in PB coder audits, education, and training
• Five (5) years of experience coding professional fee records
• CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA certifications as listed
• Epic experience
• Knowledge of professional fee coding rules and guidelines
• Understand rules and regulations governing Medicare billing
• Advanced knowledge of NCCI, ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology
• Strong organizational, planning, scheduling and project management abilities
• Excellent analytical ability to develop and analyze data to recommend solutions and solve complex problems

Responsibilities

• Audit coder performance and provide follow-up education to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor regulatory changes and communicate updates to PB coding teams.
• Onboard and train new staff; develop ongoing educational programs.
• Maintain mastery of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and related guidelines as SME.
• Conduct systematic chart audits to identify documentation gaps and trends.
• Lead onboarding for new hires and provide education on Risk Adjustment, HCCs, and MEAT criteria.
• Develop training programs to keep coding teams updated on health plan requirements.
• Foster cross-departmental communication and standardization of coding practices.
• Manage deadlines and present educational findings to drive improvements in coding compliance.
