Job summary

CommonSpirit seeks a Coding Auditor and Educator for Professional Fee to support the professional fee coding team across ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS classifications. You will audit, educate, and standardize coding practices, and monitor regulatory changes to ensure compliant billing.

You will lead onboarding and training, develop ongoing educational programs, and collaborate with leadership on strategic planning to maintain excellence in coding accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Two years of PB coder audits, education, and training.
• Five years of experience coding professional fee records.
• CPC/CCS/CCS-P or RHIT/RHIA credentials required.
• Epic experience.
• Knowledge of professional fee coding rules and guidelines.
• Medicare billing rules knowledge.
• Advanced knowledge of NCCI, ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers.
• Advanced medical terminology and anatomy knowledge.
• Strong organizational, planning, scheduling and project management abilities.
• Analytical ability to develop and analyze data.
• Remote/out-of-state candidates in AL, AZ, AR, CO, FL, GA, ID, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MO, MS, NE, NM, NC, OH, OK, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV, WY.

Responsibilities

• Utilize ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 classification systems to support the professional fee coding team.
• Serve as a key resource for coding and billing inquiries while standardizing coding practices across the organization.
• Perform internal audits and provide follow-up education to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor regulatory changes and communicate updates to PB coding teams for timely implementation.
• Onboard and train new staff; develop and deploy ongoing educational programs.
• Participate in short-term and long-term strategic planning to maintain excellence in compliant coding and regulatory billing practices.
• Maintain mastery of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and regulatory guidelines as a high-level SME for complex billing inquiries.
• Conduct systematic chart audits to identify documentation gaps and track trends.
• Lead onboarding for new hires and provide ongoing education on Risk Adjustment, HCCs, and MEAT criteria.
• Develop and deploy training programs to keep coding teams current on health plan requirements and regulatory changes.
• Build strong, diplomatic relationships with coding teams to standardize practices and enable cross-departmental communication.
• Utilize organizational and problem-solving skills to manage deadlines and present educational findings.
