Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Coding Auditor & Educator to leverage ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 coding expertise to support the Coding Service Center and ensure compliant, standardized coding practices. The role includes onboarding and training staff, conducting audits, and leading education initiatives across the system.

Ideal candidates demonstrate expert-level coding proficiency, strong analytical audit skills, and exceptional communication abilities to standardize practices.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years coding experience in an acute care setting, inpatient and outpatient.
• Two (2) years experience in internal auditing and/or coding education.
• Epic and 3M 360 experience.
• Must demonstrate inpatient and outpatient coding guidelines competency.

Responsibilities

• Provide detailed rationale for audit findings with supporting evidence.
• Deliver educational feedback to coding staff via emails, PowerPoint, and training sessions.
• Guide staff and management in resolving coding issues and answering questions.
• Identify documentation improvement opportunities impacting coding accuracy.
• Conduct internal audits and follow-up education across the system.
• Perform pre-billing reviews and audits, train new staff, monitor performance.
