Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Coding Auditor & Educator to support the Coding Service Center with advanced ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 coding. You will onboard and train staff, audit coding, deploy education, and monitor regulatory changes while collaborating with leadership to drive standardized, compliant practices across the system.

The role emphasizes expert coding proficiency, strong auditing analytics, and clear communication to standardize practices and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Five years coding experience in acute care inpatient and outpatient
• Two years experience in internal auditing and/or coding education
• Current AHIMA or AAPC credentials
• Epic and 3M 360 experience
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Provide written rationale and evidence for audit findings
• Deliver educational feedback via emails, presentations, and sessions
• Guide coding staff and management in resolving coding issues
• Identify documentation improvement opportunities impacting coding accuracy
• Perform internal audits and follow-up coding education across the system
• Conduct pre-billing reviews and audits for difficult-to-code cases
