Job summary

The role requires 12 months of hospital coding experience and a high school diploma or GED, with a proficiency test completed at UNC HCS. The position is remote with a 40-hour work week and a daytime schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; higher level degree may satisfy this requirement.
• Successful completion of the UNC HCS Hospital Outpatient Coder Proficiency Test.
• Twelve (12) months of hospital coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes accurately and productively.
• Assign HCPCS and CPT codes accurately.
• Group codes for payment and analyze information for proper reimbursement.
• Review and apply NCD/LCD/CCI edits and modifiers as needed.
• Ensure compliance with coding, billing, and data collection rules.
• Provide guidance to physicians and staff on coding practices and changes.
