Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Coder II to join the Health Information Management team. You will assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and CPT codes for ED admissions, review charts, and ensure data accuracy across registries and databases. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S.

supports flexible work arrangements. Ideal candidates have AHIMA or AAPC credentials, 2+ years of coding/abstracting experience, and proficiency with EMR systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• AHIMA or AAPC coding certification required (incl. anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, terminology).
• 2+ years coding/abstracting experience or equivalent education/experience.
• 2 years Emergency and Ancillary facility coding experience.
• ICD-10 coding experience required.
• Proficiency with Windows and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Review provider documentation to determine reason for visit and codes.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers as needed.
• Enter data into encoder and abstracting system.
• Ensure KPI-driven timelines for medical record coding.
• Adhere to AHIMA coding standards and guidelines.
• Support Revenue Cycle with charge validation and related tasks.
