Job summary

SMX is seeking a Cloud Security Operations Analyst to join the Security Operations team for managed security services of cloud-based infrastructures. This remote role supports a Herndon, VA team and focuses on monitoring, threat analysis, incident response, and improving security posture for customers.

Qualified candidates have 2+ years in cyber security or cloud experience, a 4-year degree in a related field, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 4 year degree focused on Cybersecurity or Computer Science.
• 2+ years in cyber security or cloud experience; Security Operations Center experience preferred.
• Ability to lead small teams and coordinate efforts.
• Strong written and verbal communication in a technical context.
• Experience with log correlation and threat monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and improve system and network security monitoring capabilities.
• Triage and notify clients of potential security incidents; tune sensors to reduce false positives.
• Implement endpoint security policies to meet defensive objectives.
• Support threat analysis based on logs and endpoint tools.
• Contribute to incident response activities and post-incident reports.
• Draft monthly/quarterly security reports and SOP improvements.
• Advise on security posture and counter threats to protect customer data.
