Job summary

SMX is seeking a Cloud Security Operations Analyst to join our Security Operations team overseeing managed security services for cloud-based infrastructures. The role involves guiding teams to assess cyber posture and develop security monitoring solutions against emerging threats, contributing to threat detection and mitigation using security tools to ensure timely delivery of services.

The position is remote, supporting a Herndon, Virginia based team, with responsibilities spanning monitoring,

Qualifications

• 4 year degree focused on Cybersecurity or Computer Science.
• 2+ years cyber security or cloud experience, preferably with a Security Operations Center.
• Experience with Unix, Linux or Windows operating systems; comfortable on the command line.
• Experience with advanced endpoint security tools and their use to counter threat actors.
• Experience performing security incident response, incident analysis, and incident handling.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continually improve system and network security monitoring capabilities and procedures.
• Monitor, triage, and notify clients of potential security incidents and tune sensors to reduce false positives.
• Implement endpoint security agent policies and rules to meet defensive objectives.
• Support operational threat analysis based on log correlation and endpoint security tools.
• Support contingency and incident response activities.
• Develop monthly and quarterly reports based on system and network monitoring and alerting capabilities.
• Recommend improvements; maintain/monitor production and non-production systems to protect customer data.
• Write knowledge base documents to improve operations, SOPs and overall organization.
