Job summary

SMX is seeking a Cloud Security Operations Analyst to support our Security Operations team in managing security for customer cloud infrastructures. You will guide teams and help develop monitoring solutions to counter threats, with a focus on delivering timely, quality security services for clients, in a remote role supporting a Herndon, VA team.

The role requires a 4-year degree in Cybersecurity or CS, 2+ years of cyber security or cloud experience, and strong communication with customers.

Qualifications

• 4 year degree focused on Cybersecurity or Computer Science.
• 2+ years cybersecurity or cloud experience, preferably in SOC.
• Experience with Unix, Linux or Windows; CLI proficiency.
• Scripting language experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve security monitoring capabilities and procedures.
• Triage and notify clients of potential security incidents; tune sensors.
• Implement endpoint security policies to meet defensive objectives.
• Support threat analysis from logs and endpoint tools.
• Assist in contingency planning and incident response activities.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly monitoring/alerting reports.
• Recommend improvements to protect customer data.
• Create knowledge base documents and SOP improvements.
