Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a talented Production Support Engineer for a remote, U.S.-based role. The position demands extensive production support of complex application cloud systems and strong automation skills.

Ideal candidates will have 8+ years in systems engineering, hands-on experience with AWS/Azure, Linux/Windows, and expertise in scripting and IaC. This is a 100% remote, W-2 role with public trust clearance considerations.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud technologies and related services.
• Proven track record maintaining large-scale production systems.
• Strong Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems knowledge.
• Experience with system administration tasks including user management and monitoring.
• Programming/scripting for automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack).
• Knowledge of IaC tools like CloudFormation.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Dynatrace, etc.).
• Understanding of networking, VPNs, firewalls, and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level day-to-day operational support of cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems with limited scope.
• Follow standard practices to analyze situations and data for answers.
• Detect, isolate, report, and resolve outages and issues in production.
• Document problems clearly in logging and discrepancy systems.
• Work directly with customers on day-to-day activities.
• Respond to user calls and escalate issues when needed.
• Communicate status of key problems to users and senior management.
• Perform maintenance and installation of computing infrastructure.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of IT systems and processes.
• Maintain inventory of system assets and ensure VA compliance.
• Provide documentation, training, and additional duties as assigned.
