Job summary

Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead the design and build-out of the firm’s cloud-based data platform. You will establish data infrastructure, ensure data quality and security, and collaborate with Data Science & AI teams as well as IT Operations to meet analytics and AI needs.

You will supervise Data Engineering staff, set direction and standards, and work with stakeholders to translate business challenges into data requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field; graduate degree preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience leading data engineering or related teams; set direction, standards, priorities.
• Experience managing budgets and cost-conscious tooling decisions.
• Strong understanding of modern data engineering for analytics and AI.
• Extensive experience with data management, transformation, performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Advanced SQL and data structure design for relational and other storage tech.
• Experience in cloud environments (Azure or AWS) with platform services.
• Proficient in Python and data tooling; able to review designs with engineers.
• Collaborative with data scientists, analysts, and AI practitioners.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and build-out of the firm’s cloud-based data platform from the ground up.
• Define standards for data engineering methods and product reliability.
• Coordinate teams to deliver trustworthy, secure data products.
• Oversee data quality, lineage, access controls, and governance.
• Provide technical and architectural leadership for data platform initiatives.
• Plan, deploy, and manage data engineering projects and timelines.
