Job summary

The duties include evaluating prior authorization requests, determining medication appropriateness, and communicating decisions to physicians and staff, ensuring timely patient care.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Pharmacy Tech experience.
• Call Center role - inbound calls all day.
• Great customer service and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and authorizes prior authorization requests from prescribers via phone or fax using clinical criteria.
• Determines appropriateness for medications.
• Communicates decisions to physicians, staff and pharmacists.
• Researches, resolves and documents prior authorization outcomes in the pharmacy system.
• Explains criteria, coverage and formulary alternatives to physicians and staff.
• Escalates requests to Pharmacist when extensive clinical review is required.
• Monitors telephone system to maintain client service levels.
• Identifies training needs within the team and acts as a mentor/coach.
• Shares best practices to support a positive team environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
