Job summary

Logan Health is seeking an experienced Certified Professional Coder for a full-time remote role. The coder will assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for outpatient records, abstract essential data, and support billing and collections for client databases.

Required qualifications include a nationally recognized coding certificate and 1+ year of coding experience. Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4, attention to detail, and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Possess knowledge and understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding guidelines and practices required.
• Nationally recognized coding certificate CCA, CCS, CPC or AAPC certification required.
• Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
• Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
• Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assigns and sequences ICD 10 CM and CPT 4 codes for specialty patient types, billing and reimbursement.
• Reviews and analyzes medical records for document deficiencies and accurately reflects diagnoses and procedures.
• Reviews charges, ensures accuracy and medical necessity for tests/procedures; communicates with providers and hospital staff to ensure documentation.
• Accurately abstracts clinical data after documentation assessment and review; ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Follows coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Verifies accuracy of patient account and demographics; coordinates corrections with Patient Access.
• Meets productivity standards set by Revenue Integrity Coding department.
• Exhibits initiative and supports continuous quality improvement efforts.
• Participates in continuing education to enhance knowledge and skills.
