Job summary

Pena4 Inc. seeks an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) to join our remote coding team. You will code inpatient and outpatient accounts using ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS CPT, and other coding references to ensure accuracy and compliance.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience, CCS certification is required, and familiarity with Cerner, PowerChart, 3M and EPIC systems. The role is remote, full-time, weekdays with a day shift and immediate start.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience.
• CCS certificate is required.
• Remote/full-time role in a US environment.
• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS CPT and coding references.

Responsibilities

• Examine the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Accurately sequence diagnoses and procedures, maintaining 95% accuracy.
• Strive to obtain optimal DRG assignments with computer assistance.
• Maintain steady productivity and quality.
• Hold accounts when more information is needed and contact staff as needed.
• Regularly review coding literature and stay current with guidelines.
• Complete assignments as directed by management.
• Pursue continuing education and professional development.
• Work as a team to meet department and client goals.
• Perform related duties or special projects as assigned.
