Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote role. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and a CCS certification, with preference for OP coding experience.

Responsibilities include examining records to determine diagnoses and procedures, assigning accurate codes, and maintaining coding quality and productivity. Familiarity with Cerner, PowerChart, 3M and EPIC is desirable. Start date: immediate.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience required.
• CCS certificate is required.
• Proficiency with inpatient and outpatient coding.
• Familiarity with common EHR systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examines the complete medical record to determine principal & secondary diagnoses, procedures and complications.
• Accurately sequences diagnoses & procedures, maintaining high accuracy.
• Strives to obtain optimal DRG assignments with coding system support.
• Maintains performance, productivity and quality at a steady level.
• Requests additional information as needed to ensure accurate coding.
• Keeps current on coding guidelines and shares updates with colleagues.
• Completes assignments as directed by management.
• Engages in continuing education and professional development.
• Works as a team member to meet department and client goals.
• Performs related duties or special projects as assigned.
