Job summary

CSAA Insurance Group is hiring a Casualty Evaluator for a remote role that can be performed anywhere in the United States with the exception of Hawaii and Alaska. You will own and adjust auto liability claims up to $50,000 for both first- and third-party claimants, across multiple states, including regulated ones, in a mostly virtual environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or a combination of education and 2+ directly relevant work experience.
• 2 years of related professional experience
• 2 years of claims experience
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Strong ability to work independently
• Strong decision making ability
• Strong customer service orientation
• Basic math and computer skills and ability to type 30 wpm
• Proficient oral and written communication skills and good command of the English language
• Ability to function in a team environment
• Ability to successfully complete training courses pertinent to job duties
• Developing understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements
• Developing understanding of AAA claims policies and procedures preferred
• Ability to travel on rare occasions
• Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends

Responsibilities

• Assigned as Owning/Adjuster when injury exposure is identified.
• Handles mostly simple to moderate 1st and 3rd party auto liability cases involving injury with unrepresented and attorney-represented claimants.
• May handle 1st party Medical payment and PIP.
• Assists in catastrophes related activities including handling simple homeowner losses.
• Responsible for handling, managing, investigating, negotiating, settling and/or resolving injury claims with exposure valued less than $50,000.
• Adjuster to manage productivity by seeking claim assignments through designated queues in the claim system.
• Making coverage determinations and advising customers as to proper course of action related to coverage issues.
• Conducting investigative work of a complex nature (interviewing witnesses; obtaining and analyzing evidence, including medical records; deciding whether an independent medical examination is warranted; etc.).
• On rare occasions, may require representing the insured and/or the company at settlement conferences.
• On rare occasions, may require appearing at and representing the insureds at arbitrations and trials.
• On rare occasions, may require testimony in a deposition setting.
• Evaluating potential for subrogation and initiating initial notice of subrogation request.
• Making final decisions to settle within settlement authority, without supervisory approval, and developing negotiating strategies.
• Presenting cases in Committee setting when seeking above settlement authority level; thereafter, independently negotiating and settling the claim.
