Job summary

CSAA Insurance Group is hiring a Casualty Evaluator for a remote role in the United States (excluding Hawaii and Alaska). The position handles first and third-party auto liability claims, including injury cases, with exposure up to $50,000, across multiple states and license considerations.

The role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with ability to work independently in a virtual environment and occasionally travel.

Responsibilities

• Assigned as owning adjuster when injury exposure is identified.
• Handles mostly simple to moderate 1st and 3rd party auto liability cases involving injury with unrepresented and attorney-represented claimants.
• May handle 1st party Medical payment and PIP.
• May assist in catastrophes related activities including handling simple homeowner losses.
• Responsible for handling, managing, investigating, negotiating, settling and/or resolving injury claims with exposure valued less than $50,000.
• Adjuster to manage productivity by seeking claim assignments through designated queues in the claim system.
• Triage is self-managed and not automated in the claims system.
• Making coverage determinations and advising customers as to proper course of action related to coverage issues.
• Conducting investigative work of a complex nature (interviewing witnesses; obtaining and analyzing evidence, including medical records; deciding whether an independent medical examination is warranted; etc.).
• On rare occasions, may require representing the insured and/or the company at settlement conferences.
• On rare occasions, may require appearing at and representing the insureds at arbitrations and trials.
• On rare occasions, may require testimony in a deposition setting.
• Evaluating potential for subrogation and initiating initial notice of subrogation request.
• Making final decisions to settle within settlement authority, without supervisory approval, and developing negotiating strategies.
• Presenting cases in Committee setting when seeking above settlement authority level; thereafter, independently negotiating and settling the claim.
