Job summary

HIAS seeks a Caseworker, Virtual PIR to coordinate core services through VPIR for newly arrived refugees. The Caseworker will provide guidance and remote case management during the first 90 days, with a focus on trauma-informed, client-centered support for successful integration.

Though based at HIAS's Silver Spring, MD headquarters, remote options are considered for applicants outside commuting distance to listed states, including CT, FL, GA, MA, MI, NJ, OH, PA, TX, and VA.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree preferred.
• 2-3 years of relevant professional experience.
• Understanding of available community resources that impact client needs.
• Knowledge of client management procedures for eligibility, needs assessment, referrals, and documenting interactions.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and databases.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate refugee VPIR arrivals by interviewing U.S. Ties and ensuring housing readiness.
• Conduct intake and needs assessment; create individualized Self-Sufficiency Plans.
• Assist clients with remote enrollment in benefits, school, employment services and other supports.
• Ensure Health Screenings and medical attention are arranged as needed.
• Communicate regularly with clients and U.S. Ties to monitor housing and well-being.
• Research enrollment processes for benefits, school, employment in clients’ areas.
• Assess progress toward goals and provide resources to support achievement.
• Document interactions in databases and support reporting requirements.
• Advocate for clients within the broader community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
