Job summary

HIAS seeks an experienced Program Officer, Initial Resettlement to lead research and analysis of benefits and resources for refugee self-sufficiency under the PIR funded by ORR. Hybrid work options include HQ in Silver Spring, MD or NYC, with potential remote work from other states where HIAS is registered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services, public policy, international development, or related field.
• 3-5 years of progressively responsible refugee resettlement experience.
• Substantial knowledge of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program and ORR programs.
• Experience with data tracking and grant or program reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess affiliate resource needs and develop responsive support plans.
• Lead research and maintenance of resource tools for core services.
• Monitor changes in federal, state and local benefits for refugees.
• Translate findings into clear guidance and data resources for affiliates.
• Develop and deliver guidance on accessing public benefits.
• Cultivate relationships with community providers to strengthen referrals.
• Analyze barriers to resource access and coordinate solutions.
• Maintain documentation in compliance with program requirements.
• Synthesize activities and outcomes for monthly/quarterly reports.
• Advocate for virtual PIR clients with providers and agencies.
• Apply expertise to pre- and post-arrival functions as needed.
