UMB Bank is seeking a Business Development Officer – Capital Finance to originate loans while ensuring adherence to credit policy. You will negotiate, review transactions, and manage relationships with referral sources and centers of influence.

The role involves underwriting support for client proposals and seeking executive approvals for new transactions. The position emphasizes building networks with financial professionals, visiting prospective clients, and producing prospect reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 3 years credit experience and 3 years sales experience in banking/finance.
• Knowledge of marketing tools and methods (mailings, telemarketing, outreach).
• Ability to make independent judgments and understand impact on business lines.
• Ability to read and interpret financial and budgetary documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical, organized, detail-oriented; able to handle interruptions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Originate loans in line with credit policy.
• Negotiate price and structure of new transactions within limits.
• Review and approve transactions before reporting to Executive Management.
• Develop and maintain relationships with referral sources and centers of influence.
• Assist underwriting of new client proposals from prospect to funding.
• Seek approvals for new client transactions from Executive Management.
• Market to banks, CPAs, attorneys, private equity and other financial firms; attend meetings.
