Job summary

UMB Financial Corporation is seeking a Business Development Officer for Capital Finance to originate loans in the Phoenix, AZ or Los Angeles, CA metro areas. You will negotiate pricing and transaction structures, review all deals for executive approval, and cultivate referral sources while supporting underwriting from prospect to funding.

The role reports to the EVP/National Marketing Manager and requires strong Excel/Word skills, plus the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 3 years credit experience with 3 years sales experience in a banking, finance or asset-based lending environment.
• Knowledge of marketing tools and methods (mailings, telemarketing, and other forms of customer outreach).
• Ability to read and interpret financial and budgetary documents.
• Professional verbal and written communication; analytical and detail‑oriented.

Responsibilities

• Originate loans consistent with the Company's credit policy.
• Negotiate price and structure of new transactions within set limits.
• Review and approve all transactions before presenting report to Executive Management.
• Initiate and maintain relationships with referral sources and influence centers.
• Assist in underwriting process of new client proposals from prospect to client funding.
• Seek approval from Executive Management for new client transactions.
• Market to current and potential referral sources (banks, CPAs, attorneys, PE firms, etc.).
• Visit prospective clients and produce reports for new prospects; attend meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
