Job summary

UMB, a leading financial services company, seeks a Business Development Officer – Capital Finance to originate loans, negotiate terms, and oversee transactions from prospect to funding. You will build and maintain relationships with referral sources and influence centers while supporting underwriting processes.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of credit and sales experience in banking or asset-based lending, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
• 3 years credit experience with 3 years sales experience in banking/finance or asset-based lending.
• Knowledge of marketing tools and methods (mailings, telemarketing, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret financial and budgetary documents.
• Analytical, highly organized, detail-oriented, able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Originates loans consistent with credit policy.
• Negotiates price and structure of new transactions within limits.
• Reviews and approves transactions before reporting to Executive Management.
• Initiates and maintains relationships with referral sources and influence centers.
• Assists underwriting of new client proposals from prospect to funding.
• Seeks approval from Executive Management for new client transactions.
• Markets to banks, CPAs, attorneys, private equity firms, financial firms, business brokers, and national organizations.
• Visits prospective clients and produces reports for new prospects.
• Attends regular meetings and performs other duties as assigned.
