Job summary

UMB Bank seeks a driven Business Development Officer – Capital Finance to originate loans within credit policy, negotiate terms, and drive growth with referral networks across national markets.

You will review transactions, coordinate with Executive Management, and support underwriting for new client proposals from prospect to funding, while expanding relationships with banks, CPAs, attorneys, and private equity firms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 3 years credit experience with 3 years sales experience in a banking, finance or asset-based lending environment.
• Knowledge and experience with marketing tools and methods, including mailings, telemarketing, and other forms of customer outreach.
• Ability to make independent and sound judgments and decisions and understand how decisions affect business lines and the organization as a whole.
• Ability to read and interpret financial and budgetary documents.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical, highly organized, detail-oriented, can handle interruptions and a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to meet firm timelines and work under pressure.
• Self-motivation and a sense of urgency.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Originate loans consistent with the Company's credit policy.
• Negotiate price and structure of new transactions within set limits.
• Review and approve all transactions before presenting to Executive Management.
• Initiate and maintain relationships with referral sources and influence centers.
• Assist in underwriting new client proposals from prospect to funding.
• Obtain approval from Executive Management for new client transactions.
• Market to referral sources including Banks, CPAs, Attorneys, Private Equity firms and others.
• Visit prospective clients and produce reports for new prospects.
• Attend regularly scheduled meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
