Job summary

UMB Bank is seeking a Business Development Officer – Capital Finance. The role focuses on originating loans, negotiating terms within policy limits, and guiding transactions from prospect to funding.

You will build and manage referral networks and assist in underwriting new client proposals. Ideal candidates have 3 years of credit and 3 years of sales experience in banking or asset-based lending, with strong Excel/Word skills and excellent communication abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 3 years credit experience with 3 years sales experience in a banking, finance or asset-based lending environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of marketing tools and methods (mailings, telemarketing, etc.).
• Ability to make independent judgments and understand impact on business lines.
• Read and interpret financial and budgetary documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical, highly organized, detail-oriented, able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Originating loans consistent with credit policy.
• Negotiate price and structure of new transactions within limits.
• Review and approve transactions before presenting to Executive Management.
• Initiate and maintain relationships with referral sources and influence centers.
• Assist in underwriting of client proposals from prospect to funding.
• Obtain approval from Executive Management for new client transactions.
• Market to Banks, CPAs, Attorneys, PE firms, and other professionals.
• Visit prospective clients and produce reports for new prospects.
