Job summary

UMB Bank is seeking a Business Development Officer – Capital Finance to originate loans and manage complex transactions in a national market. You will negotiate terms, review deals with senior management, and develop referral networks with banks, CPAs, and private equity contacts.

Strong credit and marketing skills are essential. The role emphasizes underwriting support, client outreach, and reporting to executives, with a comprehensive benefits package and a strong focus on growth opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 3 years credit experience and 3 years sales in banking/finance.
• Experience with marketing tools: mailings, telemarketing, outreach.
• Ability to read financial documents and budgets clearly.
• Strong communication, organization and judgment in fast-paced settings.
• Proficiency with Excel and Word for reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Originating loans consistent with policy and market needs.
• Negotiate price and structure of new transactions within limits.
• Review and approve transactions before reporting to executives.
• Develop and maintain relationships with referral sources.
• Assist in underwriting client proposals from prospect to funding.
• Obtain approval from executives for new client transactions.
• Market to banks, CPAs, attorneys, PE firms, and other networks.
• Visit prospective clients and prepare reports for new prospects.
• Attend scheduled meetings; perform other duties as assigned.
