Job summary

UMB Bank seeks a Business Development Officer – Capital Finance to originate loans, structure transactions, and guide proposals from prospect to funding. You will leverage existing relationships and develop new referral networks across banks, CPAs, attorneys, and PE firms to drive growth in corporate lending.

The role reports to the EVP/National Marketing Manager and requires a strong background in credit, marketing tools, and financial analysis within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 3 years credit experience and 3 years sales experience in banking or asset-based lending.
• Ability to market to referral sources and conduct outreach via mailings and telemarketing.
• Ability to interpret financial and budgetary documents and make sound decisions.
• Strong verbal and written communication; highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to meet tight timelines and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Originate loans consistent with credit policy and guidelines.
• Negotiate price and structure of new transactions within limits.
• Review and approve transactions before reporting to Executive Management.
• Develop and maintain relationships with referral sources and influence centers.
• Support underwriting of new client proposals from prospect to funding.
• Obtain approvals from Executive Management for new client transactions.
• Market to Banks, CPAs, Attorneys, private equity and financial firms.
• Visit prospective clients and produce reports for new prospects.
• Attend regular meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
